Summer Preseason Preperation
Grasshopper Swistzerland 9\7 3:1
Spurs lost their opening game of the pre-season,
against Christian
Gross' former club Grasshoppers Zurich, by a 3-1
margin.
However, Chris Hughton said: "The result was not
important as we have
had an excellent eight days working out over here
and a chance to assess one
or two things."
Paolo Tramezzani made his 'debut' and impressed
but two goals from
former Manchester City star Mikhail Kavelashvili
and the israeli Avi Tikva gave the Swiss club a three goal lead before
David Ginola's free kick found the head of Ramon Vega for a consolation
goal.
The was also a blow for John Scales who picked
up an injury during the game
Petersborough 15\7 0:6
Tottenham fans may have been saying 'Paolo who?'
when it was revealed
that left-back Paolo Tramezzani had joined the
club for £1.3million - but
any supporters who saw his domestic debut last
night in the 6-0 win at
Peterborough would have been pleased at the quality
of the Italian.
Tramezzani, signed from Serie A side Piacenza,
scored the opener with a
deflected free-kick in the first half and generally
looked an accomplished
defender - an addition all Spurs fans would welcome
at White Hart Lane.
Christian Gross's side, still without World Cup
stars Les Ferdinand, Sol
Campbell, Allan Nielsen and Colin Calderwood, coasted
to an easy victory
over Peterborough. Indeed, Inspired by David Ginola,
Spurs went to town in
the second period after Peterborough manager Barry
Fry had replaced all his
players at half-time.
Goals from David Ginola, Rory Allen, Andy Sinton,
Moussa Saib and Neal
Fenn completed the rout.
Tottenham's Swiss defender Ramon Vega was also
impressive and was
looking forward to a more enjoyable Premiership
campaign this season after
labelling last season as the worst of his career.
